Animal Feed

The Midwest region of the United States is often referred to as the heartland of America because of its location in the middle of the country. It is also known as the nation’s bread basket. The Midwest produces some of the worlds best animal feed and value-added products. The value of the global feed additive industry is $6.5 billion.

There are many types of value-added feed products that the Midwest provides, which includes functional feed ingredients, raw feed materials for basic nutrition, energy and fat requirements. Also, pre-mixtures and specialty mixtures. Some of the most innovative value-added feed is produced in the Midwest with safety and efficacy of animal feed products, this being a top priority to maintain quality and confidence in the food supply chain in the USA.

Global food demand is projected to increase by approximately 50–60% by 2050, driven by population growth and rising incomes. Demand for animal-source foods continues to grow, with global consumption of meat, dairy, and fish expected to increase by around 6% per capita over the next decade, with faster growth in emerging markets.

Livestock production remains a major component of the global food system, with animal agriculture expanding steadily and total livestock inventories projected to grow by around 7% over the next decade. Feed demand continues to rise in parallel, supporting the production of billions of livestock animals worldwide.
